Do you know of any adult family members, clients, or friends that may need help with literacy skills?
1. Call 901-327-6000 for more information. Family members, social workers, and friends must allow the student to call for themselves to receive this information.
2. Go to 902 South Cooper Street for a student assessment. Students may come anytime on Mondays between 9 a.m. and 7p.m. Student assessments are $10 and last between one to two hours depending on the student. This assessment helps the Literacy Mid-South staff understand what materials will be used to guide the student towards a higher reading level.
3. Students reading at a sixth grade level or below will be accepted into the program and can participate in our computer labs, learning labs, small group tutoring, and one-on-on tutoring. Students at a sixth grade reading level or higher will be referred to one of our many partner agencies such as Hope Works, Messick Adult Center, or DeNeuville Learning Center.
4. All new students receive a new student orientation.
